Where To Find A Certified Aging In Place Specialist?

As a retired Occupational Therapist and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, I understand the importance of finding the right professional to help you or your loved ones age comfortably and safely at home.

The process can seem daunting, but with the right guidance, you can make informed decisions that ensure a secure and accessible living environment.

How To Find A Certified Aging In Place Specialist

So, I’m going to tell you a story.

In February 2024, we introduced a new service for our readers. We would research and create a list of aging in place service providers in your area. All our readers had to do was to fill out this form.

The idea was to help our readers to find the folks that they may need to help them age in place safely. After all, we keep promoting it in so many of the articles we write!

But, guess what? We had a VERY difficult time finding them!

Oh, we would find one on Facebook, maybe another on LinkedIn, etc. Honestly, it was ridiculous!

So, a new directory was created. The Aging In Place Directory!

With this new directory, we’re hoping to build a network of professionals involved in making a home as safe as possible for the homeowners and their families.

If you’re looking for an assessment, or maybe a re-design of your home, or perhaps looking to move to a safer home or just need a contractor – then check out The Aging In Place Directory.

Benefits Of Hiring A CAPS Professional

Hiring a CAPS professional offers numerous benefits, ensuring that your home is not only safe but also comfortable and conducive to aging in place.

Mental Well-Being

Aging in place can significantly bolster mental well-being. For instance, my mom-in-law hired a CAPS professional when she turned 95.

She knew (because I educated her) that to stay in her Florida condo, she needed to make sure that it was as safe as possible.

The modifications made to her home allowed her to maintain her independence and live comfortably without the constant fear of accidents.

The CAPS professional assessed her condo and then recommended an experienced handyman to do the work.

They installed grab bars in the bathroom, added ceiling lights throughout the condo, and widened the doorway to her bathroom.

All in all, she was able to remain in that condo, independently for an additional 5 years!
