Meals On Wheels

The video titled “Senior Services Meals On Wheels” on the Henry County YouTube channel, uploaded on 11/21/2023, highlights the critical role of the Meals on Wheels program in supporting homebound seniors in Henry County in Georgia.

With a duration of 146 seconds and 155 views, the video emphasizes how Meals on Wheels delivers more than 5,000 meals a month to nearly 275 seniors in the county.

Under the leadership of Senior Services director Shawn Norris and a dedicated team, the program ensures daily meal deliveries, providing not just nutrition but also a vital human connection and safety check for the most vulnerable seniors.

The program boasts 11 drivers operating new delivery trucks equipped with heating and refrigeration units to keep meals safe and ready to eat.

One driver, Louis Hopson, expresses his passion for helping others and the joy he finds in being a part of the seniors’ lives, often being the only person they see on some days.

Another driver, Lauren Judson, shares her enjoyment in making new friends every day, especially among clients with Alzheimer’s who may not remember her from one visit to the next.

She values working with seniors, veterans, and their animals, feeling good about serving her community.

Shannon Brown, the Meals on Wheels supervisor, who started as a food service aide and has grown with the program over seven years, finds it rewarding to make a difference in the seniors’ lives, even though her supervisory role means she doesn’t get to see them as often.
